My name is Bennie and I am a Gambling Addict. The road to recovery is always under construction .... Stop gambling is just the beginning of a painful journey .... Recovery is not about stopping gambling.Its about changing oneself to deal with life. Life on Life's term just Sucks !!!! The only thing I can do today is to change myself .... Right Believing Leads To Right Living

Important ~ Right Believing

1) "GOD is never tempted to do wrong, And HE never tempts anyone else either ..... "

2) "What is impossible from human perspective is possible with GOD!"

- - Is anything too hard for Our Creator ??

3) "GOD is Love"

- - The unfailing love and faithfulness of GOD never ends .....

4) "GOD will never condemn you!!"

- - The one who has the right to condemn you and judge you, chose instead to send HIS beloved son to die for you, for the forgiveness of your sins......

5) "GOD is Faithful"

- - HE will always find a way out for you when you are tempted ..... HE will never fail you or forsake you .....

6) "Humble yourself before GOD, resist the accuser within & he will flee from you"

- - Draw close to GOD and GOD will draw close to you......

7) GOD has promised a way out of every temptation ..... HE is the solution .....

As this is a spiritual program, right spiritual beliefs will leads to right living. 12th step program is a program of change .... Changes can only take places with right believing and right thinking !!

If there is no god,
If god is too busy to hear my prayer.
My prayer will not come true , rite..haha

Is there any other way for me to stay stop ?

If I learn to be grateful and contented , will I want more ? do I need to gamble ?

If I learn to have the courage to feel vulnerable , I will stay calm and have the peace to repay my bill with whatever little I have.
I will be extremely careful of stress and anxiety.
I must not let my obsessive compulsive behaviour to take control of my life.
I must not feel helpless and resort to gambling to find a quick fix to find more money.

If I learn to be patient and practice tolerant , I will not allow people , place and things to make me gamble.
I must patiently live my life and wait for the next payday to settle my outstanding bills or debts.

So long I pay whether now or later,I m still a responsible person , I dun have to feel guilty.

I shall be brave and not be afraid to be happy.

When I learn to take good care of my emotions , I will not have to numb my pain or feeling by gambling.I will not have to gamble to find thrills if I feel bored

I still pray to god to give me the strength , courage and hope to keep going and stay stop in gambling.....

Gambling And Depression

Although not an addiction, depression is commonly associated with problem gambling.

Depression can both result from problem gambling and exacerbate it. The problem gambler may experience a strong desire to gamble during times of depression.

Symptoms of depression include:

1. Depressed mood most of the day
2. Diminished interest in pleasure
3. Significant weight changes
4. Difficulty in sleeping
5. Fatigue or loss of energy
6. Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
7. Diminished ability to think or concentrate

Alcohol or drug use may also occur in conjunction with gambling. After consuming excessive alcohol or drugs the problem gambler is drawn to gamble. After losing money gambling, the gambler feels an urge to consume alcohol or drugs.

2. Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy?

3. Did gambling ever affect your reputation?

4. Have you ever felt remorse after gambling?

5. Did you ever gamble to get money with which to pay debts or otherwise solve financial difficulties?

6. Did gambling cause a decrease in your ambition or efficiency?

7. After losing, did you feel you must return as soon as possible and win back your losses?

8. After a win, did you have a strong urge to return and win more?

9. Did you often gamble until your last dollar was gone?

10. Did you ever borrow to finance your gambling?

11. Have you ever sold anything to finance your gambling?

12. Were you reluctant to use gambling money for normal expenditures?

13. Did gambling make you careless of yourself or your family?

14. Have you ever gambled longer than you had planned?

15. Have you ever gambled to escape worry and trouble?

16. Have you ever committed or considered committing an illegal act to finance gambling?

17. Has gambling caused you to have difficulty in sleeping?

12 Step Recovery Program

1) We admitted we were powerless over gambling - that our lives had become unmanageable.

2) Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to a normal way of thinking and living.

3) Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of this Power of our own understanding.

4) Made a searching and fearless moral and financial inventory of ourselves.

5) Admitted to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6) Were entirely ready to have these defects of character removed.

7) Humbly asked God (of our understanding) to remove our shortcomings.

8) Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.

9) Make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10) Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

11) Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

12) Having made an effort to practice these principles in all our affairs, we tried to carry this message to other compulsive gamblers.
